Photographer Ima Mfon has created a striking photograph series that challenges assumptions about African Identity. His series contains photographs of Nigerians living in America, specifically New York and Texas. The most unique thing about this series is that the photographer edited the photos so that all of the subjects have the same deep tone in their completion. This brings a focus to the features of the people in the images, rather than their skin color. The series is now on display in the SVA Gramercy Gallery in New York, and more photos can be seen in the link below.
The continent of Africa is such a diverse and amazing place. But in a world that labels this place as just a developing country, many will never see the beauty contained in this continent.
It has countries, each with its own unique identity, that all make up a whole. In fact, in some countries, there are some very different groups of people, depending on the area of the country.
Our blog will contain our ongoing segment of “The Inside Scoop” as well as other cultural stories and events.
